I first came to Costa Rica in 1999 and knew the moment I got here that this is where I would spend the rest of my life. I only had to sell my business and off to paradise I went. I have been very fortunate to have been able to associate myself with some of the best people in the Costa Rica real estate business, and they have all become my very good friends.

I am a Canadian originally from Ontario, transplanted to Shawinigan Lake, on Vancouver Island, BC. and have been living here in the Playa Hermosa, Playa Coco area for over 14 years.  After visiting Costa Rica in the mid 1990's, I was bit by that Costa Rica bug. I love British Columbia but the oceans here are pristine and WARM, traded evergreens for palm trees, bought a catamaran and was Capt. Mike for 5 years. Hung up my suits & ties after a 25 years sales and marketing career with my own two printing brokerages and sailed tourists from all over the world along the Costa Rica coastline. Everyone falls in love with Costa Rica and many of my clients would ask me about real estate so I started sending referrals to a new Remax Broker in Playa Hermosa, Michael Simons. The referral cheques kept coming to the point I could not refuse the offer made to join Remax and open the Remax Prestige Ocean Properties office in Playa Panama.

I now manage the Remax Prestige Ocean Properties office as associate broker in Playa Panama and also our new sub office at Lomas Del Mar in the Matapalo Beach area , a six hundred acre development with hundreds of lots and over 100 new homes coming in 2013.  This is my home and I take great pride knowing the area inside out and being able to advise new comers on everything they need to know to purchase and settle in here. In 14 years I have established a network of professionals from lawyers, accountants, bankers to builders who can assist in the transition of moving or investing in Costa Rica.  If you are looking for a income generating vacation condo or home, a 2 acre ranch or even a beach front hotel property, you have come to the right person. I am a Costa Rican and I would love to be able to share with you this blessed land. I am proud of my country and it would be my pleasure to be your guide on this new adventure and an honor to be a part of the process of finding you a little piece of paradise. I have been a real estate professional for over 25 years, having been a journalist and a Public Relations advisor prior to joining RE/MAX Prestige Ocean Properties. I am also the President of the Chamber of Realtors of Costa Rica in Guanacaste. I could live anywhere in Costa Rica but I choose to be here on the Pacific Coast. It is, in my opinion, the best spot in my country and the weather is always perfect! We have the best of both worlds here in the Papagayo, with untouchable natural beauty and peace and the facilities of the modern world. To top it off, Costa Ricans are the happiest people on the planet. What else could you ask for yourself and your loved ones? Once, when I was working for the Minister of Tourism, he asked me to write a speech for a huge event of over 3000 people. I chose a letter from a famous Indian Chief, Seattle, to express how Costa Ricans think.

Welcome to Pura Vida Ville!  I am a permanent resident ("Residencia sin Condiciones") of Costa Rica and fell in love with this great little Country on my first visit in 1999. Prior to moving permanently to Costa Rica in 2007 from Canada, I lived and worked in the Provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.  My background is in the Oil and Gas Industry where I worked as a Surface Landman (similar to Industrial Real Estate) and Environmental Technician for 20 years. Prior to that, I spent 10 years as a Forest Ranger with the Alberta Government. My oil and gas work experience took me all over the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta in Canada and to the far reaches of Indonesia. I have had extensive experience in working with people and adapting to various cultures in foreign countries like Indonesia and Costa Rica.

As full time residents, my wife Donna and I have traveled extensively throughout the country and can offer lots of tips and information about living and travelling in Costa Rica...
